We, Palestinians, Jews, citizens of Israel, join the Palestinian call for a BDS campaign against Israel, inspired by the struggle of South Africans against apartheid. We also call on others to do the same.
We are devoted to the promotion of just peace and true democracy in this region. We are particularly opposed to Western governments' decision to boycott the Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, most especially in besieged Gaza. This is particularly outrageous given the same Western governments' prolonged support of Israel's apartheid and other daily violations of international law.
Dear Julien Clerc,
We are Israeli citizens, active against our government's policies of
racism, occupation and apartheid.
We know and love your music, and we admire your efforts for the promotion
of human rights principles, especially as a goodwill ambassador for the
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). W
e would like to ask you not to perform in Tel Aviv for now. Please postpone
your concert to a time when our democracy is respected by our government.
Dear Professor Kwame Anthony Appiah,
Dear members of AAAS,
We are a group of Israeli citizens, active against our government's policies of racism, occupation and apartheid. We are convinced that an international campaign of sanctions against Israeli institutions, which are complicit in Israel's violations of human rights and international law, is both justifiable and necessary.
Dear Morgan Freeman,
We are a group of Israeli citizens who are working to move our government
to recognize the full rights of Palestinians. We have recently learned that
the Canadian chapter of the friends of the Hebrew university intends to
award you with the Key of Knowledge award. You might have heard that the
Hebrew University, like other Israeli institutions which are complicit in
the the policies of their government, is the object of an international
Dear Barbra Streisand,
We are citizens of Israel who oppose Israel’s continuing displacement of
the Palestinian people via military occupation and apartheid policies (
http://www.boycottisrael.info/). It's important that you be fully aware of
the political role you take, when you choose to participate in official
state events such as Shimon Peres' birthday. The national celebrations of
the president's birthday are essentially a celebration of decades of
oppression, racism and discrimination, in which Mr, Peres has played a
Dear Antonio Munoz Molina,
We are Israeli citizens who support Palestinian civil society's call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel. We believe that if you accept the Jerusalem prize next month in Jerusalem, you will be complicit in Israel's human rights crimes and its "business as usual" policy. We would like to provide you with some information so that you can make an informed decision as to whether you wish to collaborate with Israel’s racism and apartheid regime.
By accepting the Jerusalem prize, you will legitimise the actions of Jerusalem's racist mayor, Nir Barkat, who pursues and defends the expulsion of Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem, in order for them to be occupied by Jewish settlers. Right now, the Shamasneh family from the east East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarah is facing a violent eviction from their home. In addition, just ten minutes away from the book fair venue, children in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan are abducted from their homes, detained and even tortured by Israeli police acting in the service of Israeli settlers. Mayor Nir Barkat bears responsibility for these crimes!
We are Israeli citizens who support the Palestinian civil society call for
Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel's policies of
colonialism, occupation and apartheid towards the Palestinian people. We
have recently learned of your planned concert at the Yellow Submarine venue
in Jerusalem, and therefore write in order to urge you not to come. It is
important to note that your concert is sponsored by the Jerusalem
municipality and The Jerusalem Foundation. Hand in hand, these two entities
We are a group of Israeli citizens, who have the utmost respect for your
musical and humanitarian contributions to our world. We were quite
surprised, even shocked, to learn of your upcoming performance for
Friends of the IDF (FIDF). We would like to share our concerns with
you, and urge you to reconsider your acceptance of the FIDF invitation.
*Dear Alanis Morissette, we write to you with great urgency as Israel escalates it's onslaught on the Gaza strip*
