We, citizens of Israel, join PACBI’s lead in endorsing the boycott of Gal Gadot’s featured upcoming Disney movie Snow White. Gadot has been a cultural ambassador for the Israeli genocide, specifically by promoting the Holliwood screening of the Israeli military’s pro-genocide propaganda film Bearing Witness, a screening that was organised and sponsored by the notorious pro-genocide anti-Palestinian organizations ADL and American Jewish Committee.
As Israel massacres Palestinians daily, over 40,000 in Gaza alone during the past 10+ months, Genocide Barbie Gadot still encourages people to “stand with Israel”. On an Instagram post in December she repeated the now refuted Israeli propaganda claim that Israeli women were mass-raped on Oct. 7 and in captivity. Such claims served as a ruse to irrationally rally support for Israel’s genocide against the 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza.
We applaud Rachel Zegler’s comments for “free Palestine” but warn people that Gadot’s inclusion in the film is still a whitewash for apartheid and genocide, and that the media narrative of pro-Israel Evil Queen vs. pro-Palestinian Snow White is an attempt to pacify and incorporate resistance and allow Disney to profit off the bodies and backs of massacred and oppressed Palestinians.
Gadot's response to the organic calls to boycott Disney’s Snow White - and any other film she plays in - also whitewashes Israeli crimes and attempts to mute resistance, claiming the protesters are fighting “darkness” and “hate” but also that they are doing so with same “darkness” and “hate”, thus equating civil boycotts with Israel’s genocidal settler colonialism. We won’t let this whitewash slide - indeed, boycott Disney’s Snow White!
We also would like to remind people that Disney is a target for pressure for its upcoming Captain America: Brave New World movie which is set to include the comics character of Ruth Bat-Seraph (aka Sabra) that promotes Israeli settler colonialism. Earlier we asked people on social media to use our graphics and pledge to pressure Disney on this character’s inclusion by boycotting Marvel’s merchandise, canceling Disney+ subscriptions and refusing to attend screenings of Captain America.
