We are Israeli citizens who are opposed to our government's policies of occupation, colonization and apartheid. Many of us have been active for years within local groups here in Israel/Palestine. We have come to the conclusion that direct action on the ground against Israel's policies must be sustained by an international boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) effort.
Most UK governments have been highly complicit in Israel's crimes. These governments, and especially the current one, have encouraged economic cooperation with the Israeli governments and Israel's corporate sector. This has benefited international and Israeli companies which are directly involved in Israeli acts of expropriation, detention, torture and killing.
By contrast to the cynical behaviour of UK politicians, there is a vast solidarity with the Palestinian cause in the UK, especially in Scotland, and for this we are grateful.
There is a lot that can be done abroad to name and shame complicit corporations, and force them to stop profiteering from Israel's violations of human rights and international law.
We are glad to see the TIME TO DIVEST conference is taking place, and we endorse it wholeheartedly.
