BOYCOTT!

We are a group of Israeli citizens who are deeply concerned about our government's policies of racism, apartheid and occupation, and the European Union's complicity in these policies. It has been brought to our attention that the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit your country this month, in order to "deepen crucial strategic cooperation", as reported by your local media. Cooperation of this type means increased complicity of the Czech Republic in Israeli crimes. We are therefore writing to you to ask that you resume your responsibility to uphold basic principles of international law and human rights in Israel/Palestine.

Dear Richard Bona

We are Israeli citizens who oppose our government's policies of apartheid, occupation and racism against the Palestinian people.

We are acting in solidarity with the Palestinian civil society's call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel because of its policies, and we are asking you to join us and do the same, by postponing your performance in Israel to a time when our government respects basic principles of human rights!

We are members of an Israeli group called BOYCOTT! Supporting the Palestinian BDS call from within (BfW). We support the Palestinian call for boycott divestment and sanctions (BDS) of Israel (1). Together with our Palestinian partners, we are calling on international artists to respect the call, and not to perform in Israel until the Palestinians’ most basic human rights are respected:

1. Ending [Israel’s] occupation and colonization of all Arab lands and dismantling the Wall;

2. Recognizing the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality; and

3. Respecting, protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN resolution 194.

We are a group of Israeli citizens. We have been fans of your music for many years. We support the Palestinian call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel (BDS). The movement is based on a non-violent approach towards ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, and it is based on international law.

Together with our Palestinian partners, we are calling on you to respect the request by Palestinian civil society not to perform in Israel until the Palestinians’ most basic human rights are respected by the State of Israel: Ending the occupation, dismantling the settlements, ending the racist discrimination against Israel's Palestinian citizens within the 1967 borders, and respecting the Palestinian refugees' right of return.

We were saddened to hear that you will be giving a concert in Israel in March.

You may not be aware of the serious violations of International Law and Human Rights that have been carried out against the Palestinian population by Israel over the last 60-odd years. One of the most recent violations was the brutal attack made on the Gaza Strip in 2008-2009, during which Israel committed war crimes and crimes against humanity as detailed in the report that the South African judge Richard Goldstone drew up for the United Nations in 2009.

We are an Israeli group called BOYCOTT! Supporting the Palestinian BDS Call from Within. Undoubtedly, our name discloses the intent of this letter: We hereby invite you to join the growing international movement of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel - a movement that has undertaken to respond to the Palestinian call to apply these nonviolent measures against Israel, until the following is accomplished:
